Dr. Jack Gilbert, Director of the Trans-disciplinary Consortium for Innovation Leadership in Healthcare, Director of Executive & Professional Development for the Colleges of Health Solutions and Nursing & Health Innovation, and Clinical Associate Professor at Arizona State University, is an expert in innovation leadership, organizational and personal integrity, and large-scale change. In addition to serving as a consultant for clients within and beyond the health care field, Dr. Gilbert is a co-author of the recently published book, “The Heart of Leadership: Inspiration and Practical Guidance for Transforming Your Healthcare Organization,” and has authored several manuscripts published by the American Hospital Association.
During his visit, Dr. Gilbert led the Canyon Ranch Institute team in a discussion about ethical wisdom and leadership in health care. Dr. Gilbert introduced the concept of “ethical pathways,” which include components such as culture, leadership, and infrastructure, and provide practical ways to strengthen everyday ethical decision-making. CRI team members examined how each of these factors contributes to ethical decisions that shape CRI’s contributions to the communities and populations we serve.
