Haile Thomas

2014 Enid & Mel Zuckerman Volunteer of the Year

CRI presented Haile Thomas with the Enid & Mel Zuckerman Volunteer of the Year Award for helping develop the Canyon Ranch Institute Life Enhancement Program for Teens curriculum and for helping design and lead healthy cooking demonstrations during the CRI Healthy Community pilot program launched in 2014 by Canyon Ranch, CRI, and the Grow 2B Fit Foundation at Apollo Middle School in Tucson, AZ. In 2014, Haile also volunteered with CRI as an intern.

Haile, a teenager, is dedicated to the power and possibility of a healthy world. In addition to her volunteer efforts with CRI, Haile is the founder of a motivational non-profit organization called HAPPY (Healthy, Active, Positive, Purposeful Youth). She is committed to spreading the message of healthy living, and has appeared on national TV, co-authored a cookbook, and has been a keynote speaker at national conferences. Haile was also a guest in the First Lady’s Box at the 2013 State of the Union Address representing Let’s Move.

Haile’s forward-thinking commitment to sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with her peers and their families is admirable, and CRI is thrilled to honor this outstanding young woman with our highest volunteer recognition.
