Andrew Pleasant, Ph.D., delivers health literacy training sessions to New Mexico’s public health workers

Sponsored by the state of New Mexico’s Office of Health Equity with additional support from the Office of Community Health Workers, Andrew led an all-day workshop that addressed definitions of health literacy,  discussions of several health literacy tools, and explored the relationship between health literacy and behavior change. The overall focus was on proven ways to use health literacy as a tool for behavior change throughout society to eliminate disparities in health.

As part of the New Mexico Public Health Association’s annual conference, Andrew also offered a second health literacy training session and an additional discussion forum on the viability of establishing a health literacy organization in the state of New Mexico.
